2. JOHN MARSHALL was born Abt. 1700 in Westmoreland Co., VA, and died April 1752. He married ELIZABETH MARKHAM Abt. 1722.

3. THOMAS MARSHALL was born April 02, 1730 in Washington Parish, Westmoreland Co., VA, and died June 22, 1802 in KY. He married MARY RANDOLPH KEITH.

4. Chief Justice John Marshallwas born on 24 Sep 1755 near Germantown, Fauquier Co., VA. He was a Captain during Revolutionary War. He was educated in 1779 at William Mary College, Williamsburg, VA. He was a member of the Council of State in 1782 at Virginia. He was a member of the Legislature in 1782 at Virginia. He married Mary Willis Ambler, daughter of Jaquelin Ambler and Rebecca Lewis Burwell, on 3 Jan 1783 at Hanover Co., VA. He was a member of the Constitutional Convention in 1788. He was a member of the Legislature between 1789 and 1791 at Virginia. He was an Envoy to Paris between 1797 and 1798 at Paris, FranceHe was a member of U.S. House of Representatives in 1799. He was Secretary of State under John Adams in 1800. He was Chief Justice of the Supreme Court from 31 Jan 1801 to 6 Jul 1835. He was the author of the Life of Washington. He died on 6 Jul 1835 at Philadelphia, PA, at age 79. He was buried at Shockoe Hill Cemetery, Richmond, VA.

5. Dr. Jaquelin Ambler Marshall was a physician. He resided at 'Prospect Hill', Fauquier Co., VA. He resided at 'The Crag', Markham, Fauquier Co., VA. He was a farmer. He was born on 3 Dec 1787 at Richmond, VA. He was educated at Princeton University, Princeton, NJ. He married Eliza Letitia Steptoe Clarkson, daughter of William Clarkson and Mildred Pickett, on 18 Jan 1819 at Fauquier Co., VA. He died on 7 Jul 1852 at Fauquier Co., VA, at age 64. He was buried at Leeds Church, Hume, Fauquier Co., VA.

He resided in 1870 at 'The Crag', Markham, Fauquier Co., VA. He died on 2 May 1909 at 'The Crag', Markham, Fauquier Co., VA, at age 80. He was buried at Leeds Church, Hume, Fauquier Co.,VA.

7. Jaquelin AmblerMarshall, III and Eliza Randolph Turner resided at The Plains, Fauquier Co., VA. He was a farmer. He was born on 20 Oct 1858 at 'The Crag', Markham, Fauquier Co., VA. He married Eliza Randolph Turner, daughter of Edward Carter Turner and Sarah Jane Beverley, on 22 Oct 1878 at Grace Church, The Plains, Fauquier Co., VA. He died on 15 Oct 1923 at The Plains, Fauquier Co., VA, at age 64. He was buried at Sharon Cemetery, Middleburg, Loudoun Co., VA.

8. Charles TurnerMarshallwas a farmer. He and Julia McIlvaine Spencer resided at 'Jesse's Branch', The Plains, Fauquier Co.,VA. He was born on 25 Jul 1883 at The Plains, Fauquier Co., VA. He married Julia McIlvaine Spencer, daughter of Charles McGill Spencer and Mary Shippen McIlvaine, on 27 Apr 1911 at 4025 Chestnut Street, Philadelphia, PA. He and Julia McIlvaine Spencer resided in 1929 at 'Mountain Slope', The Plains, Fauquier Co., VA. He died on 13 Feb 1953 at 'The Glebe', The Plains, Fauquier Co., VA, at age 69 He was buried at Sharon Cemetery, Middleburg, Loudoun Co., VA.

9. Julian McIlvaine Marshall was born at 'Jesse's Branch', The Plains, Fauquier Co., VA. He married Henrietta Armitt Harrison, daughter of Joseph Harrison Jr. and Lucretia Stevens Heckscher. He died at age 84.

1. JACOB MARSHILL, Sr. was born about 1655 (Country unknown) and died at *Grange May 1, 1743 at Charlemont, County **Tyrone, Northern Ireland. He married Margaret Edwards from Wales in August, 1685 in Grange Monthly Meeting, Charlemont, Armagh, Northern Ireland. Margaret Edwards was born ca.1667 in Wales and died on March 23, 1738/1739 in Grange Monthly Meeting, Charlemont, Armagh, Northern Ireland. She was the daughter of Alexander Edwards ca.1638-1712 who died in PA, a Quaker, and was from the County of Merionethshire, Wales and married Margaret ? ca. 1644-1692/1703 (same name as his daughter) in the small town of Trefeglwys in County Montgomery, central Wales July 7, 1664. Alexander came to America about 1682 and his wife Margaret and her daughter, Margaret (***the younger one born 1680 and sometimes referred to as Martha) and two sons Alexander, Jr. and Thomas came later in 1684.


*Early Quaker records refer to this as Grange near Charlemont because there were several other Meeting Houses named Grange in other counties.


**Some references list his residence in County Armagh because the town of Charlemont was in County Armagh. However the Grange Friends Quaker Meeting House was slightly north of Charlemont in County Tyrone.


***Alexander Edwards had 2 daughters that were both named Margaret.

2. JACOB MARSHILL, Jr. was born about 1693 in Grange Manor, Charlemont, Armagh, Northern Ireland and died before September 1729, possibly at sea. He married Ann Griffith, daughter of John Griffith and Esther(Ester) Musgrave on 18 September, 1718 in Grange Monthly Friends Meeting, Charlemont, Armagh, Ireland. Ann Griffith was born 1697 in Ireland and died 1729 in Chester County , PA. The family came to America in 1729.

3. JOHN MARSHILL was born 1720 in County Tyrone, Northern Ireland and died August 3, 1787 in Cane Creek, Chatham Co., NC. He married Ruth Hadley, on 14 August, 1742 in Chester County, PA at New Garden Friends Meeting House, daughter of Joshua and Mary Rowland Hadley. Ruth was born in 1726 and died on March 29, 1812. They are buried in Orange County, NC at Cane Creek.

4. JOSEPH MARSHILL was born on February 19, 1764 in Orange Co., NC and died October 25, 1805 in Surry County, NC. He married Ruth Hadley in 1791, daughter of Simon and Bridget Hadley. Ruth was born on May 11, 1770 and died May 18, 1852 in Surry County, NC.

5. SIMON GRANSER MARSHALL, SR. was born in Surry County, NC on December 26, 1791 and married Sarah Reece, daughter of Abraham and Mary (Hough) Reece on October 27, 1812 in Surry County, NC. Simon died in 1877 in Carroll County, VA. Sarah was born about 1791 in Yadkin County, NC, daughter of Abraham and Mary Huff Reece. She died in 1857 in Carroll County, VA. Both are buried in the BOND-MARSHALL CEMETERY located on Sugar Tree Farm, Ocala Road, Dugspur, VA.


Generation No. 6


6. LEVI MARSHALL was born on 14 August, 1827 in North Carolina and married Caroline Quesenberry on 13 May, 1852 who was the daughter of William (Billy) Quesenberry and Sarah G. Cochran. Levi died in Carroll County, VA 1903. Caroline Quesenberry was born on 15 June 1831 and died in Carroll County, VA, 1906. Both are buried in a family cemetery near the mouth of Greasy Creek on Carson Huff farm.


Generation No. 7


7. GRANVILLE MARSHALL was born in Carroll County, VA 1855 and married Mary (Polly) Goad in 1877 who was the daughter of Timothy Goad and Matilda Shinault. Granville died Carroll County, VA in 1928. Mary Polly was born in 1851 and died in 1924. Both are buried in the Granville Marshall Cemetery, near Dugspur, VA, located off Route 764 on to a Jeep trail.

8. CHARLIE HENRY MARSHALL was born in Peck, Carroll County, VA on November 8, 1879 and married Virginia Elizabeth Wright on December 3, 1902 at Oklamama, VA by Jacob L. C. Lindsey. She was the daughter of John William Wright 1856-1896 and Nancy (Nannie) Elizabeth Saul 1856-1923. Charlie died in Kingsport, TN January 24, 1960. Virginia Elizabeth Wright was born in Ferrum, Franklin County, VA on March 22, 1883 and died on July 19, 1948 in Kingsport, TN. Both are buried in the Knoll-Craig Cemetery in Abingdon, VA.

9. GEORGE PAYNE MARSHALL was born in Carroll County, VA on July 31, 1921 and was still living on August 8, 2008. He married Thelma Mae Feagins on March 16, 1946 in Kingsport, TN. She was the daughter of Silas Palmer Feagins 1900-1955 and Ora Fay Stanifer 1904-1948. Thelma was born on May 11, 1924 in Kingsport, TN and died on July 3, 2001 in Kingsport, TN. She is buried in the East Lawn Memorial Park, Kingsport, TN.

10. DANIEL PAYNE MARSHALL was born in Kingsport, TN on September 12, 1950. He married Jennifer Sue Aaron on December 19, 1970 in Kingsport, TN. They were divorced on May 15, 1991. She was the daughter of Clifford C. Aaron 1925-2005 and Marie Holder who passed away January 13, 2004. Jennifer was born on August 6, 1950. His second marriage was on October 16, 2004 to Julie Gwynne Large Sable in Memphis, TN. Julie was born on September 5, 1961. She is the daughter of Susan (Sue) Cooper Large and the late Donald C. Large. As of August 8, 2008 all above were still living.

4. FRANCIS JOSEPHMARSHALL was born October 15, 1819 in Kershaw Co., SC, and died June 01, 1898in Dale Co., AL. He married VIRGINIA BULL, November 7, 1844 in Henry Co., AL.She was born in about 1830 in GA.


Generation No. 5

5. TIP R. MARSHALL was about October 1869 inDale Co., AL and died abut 1899. He  L. ELLA PENUEL on March 19, 1891 inHenry Co., AL. She was born January 21. 1867 and died June 11, 1957 in HenryCo., AL.

3. SAMUEL MARSHALL wasborn April 15, 1796 in Kershaw Co., SC and died March 20, 1878 in Dale Co., AL.He married ELIZABETH T. JONES March 26, 1818. She was born December 13, 1802,and died September 02, 1861 in Dale Co., AL.
