The goal of the Jones Y-DNA Project is to identify as many Jones family lines as Y-DNA STR and BIGY results will yield!
Please note, however, it is not an exact science.
We do our best to place matching Y-DNA results in groupings that denote a family line within a genealogical time frame, but it's not always clear-cut.
It is also our goal to collect all the lineages
of the Jones Project members to better identify the current Jones lines that
have YDNA testers. Having that information will allow the Jones testers
and the admins to research other lines in the area to help break up brick walls
and get as many of these lines back to their homeland as possible.
This tree building will be finished by July of 2026. By the end of January 2026, we will have communicated with all the YDNA testers who have been assigned to subgroups and have already begun the process of communicating with testers who currently have no matches in the project.
