The baseline for this project is the genealogical research each member has done on their respective lines. With hard research done to establish our individual ancestors this project has more impact on its members.
This DNA study is just one more tool that genealogists have at their disposal that can confirm and support hard research. Because the results are compared to other project members additional matches can open other areas of research.
The test was made of the Y-chromosomes that are passed from male to male, father to son, for every generation with little to no alteration. Because of this phenomenon a common ancestor dating back many generations and hundreds of years may be determined.
