About us

The majority of the men tested show a match indicating that they come from the same ancestor many generations ago and after surnames were established.  Sometime after the common ancestor, the line splits into two groups but more groups could possibly develop as more men take the test.

Group One comes from different Meharg/McHarg name variations and different countries of origin, showing a common ancestor many generations ago.

In Group Two are the McHargues, one McHarg and one Meharg from Northern Ireland, showing a common ancestor prior to 1700. They share the same values at the key markers, #456 and #460 as the McHargues.

Group Three is a newly emerged divergent line of Mehargs from County Down. These members share a common ancestor prior to 1800 but are not in the same A725 sub-haplogroup and therefore, don't relate to groups one or two.

The Unassigned Members are not genetically related to anyone of the first three groups.

The McHargs,Mehargs/McHargues are NOT Grahams as proven by YDNA
