About us
This project is made up of people embarking on an amazing genetic journey to uncover their common past. All members match either identically or very closely (give or take a few fast mutators and a couple of coding region differences) on their mtdna. Most are part of the HV1b haplogroup subclade, but we've expanded our perspective to include HV1a and HV1c cousins as well, since they too will be part of our longer-term ancient migration story.
We have a big group that includes people who have done lower level [HVR1/2] mtdna testing, with a very large subset who have had the Full Mitochondrial Sequence (FMS) analysis done. Many of our members have also taken the plunge with the new Family Finder Test. So there is a lot of great data for us to work with.
We are gathering and organizing our genetic and family history information to see what we can learn about our common ancestral paths. There is a large core group of Jewish heritage, but an intriguing gang of others who are not. The puzzle of how we all fit together and who are the common ancestresses on the various branches will be and adventure to uncover!
