The Zwiener name
is common in the Silesian Czechoslavakia and Bohemian areas of current Poland, Czech Republic, and other slovakian countries. The name has been found as early as the 1500's in the Oder River valley of the extinct region of Schlasky. It is most probable that this is a German surname with origins in the Brandenburg or Austrian Forest areas, possibly from another surname that has been changed due to long time intermingling in Slovak dominated areas. This Project was established October 8, 2009.
