About us

The PRIMARY FOCUS of this project to use MALE LINE Y Chromosome testing with ever developing metric tools to interpret relatedness between branches of Zwiener/Zweiner lines. DNA companies provide basic tools. The Project Admin using advanced Genetic Genealogical variety of subscription, common use free ware, and retail programs. This is not a records research project, but sound DNA connections go hand in hand with accurate pedigrees. You must be willing to support and participate the project minimally by providing a relevant DNA test. Posting of a public tree is not required but encouraged. Sharing private pedigrees with Project Admin will be evaluated on a case by case basis. Accurate trees with the DNA tester positioned as the start person of the pedigree, and not a test facilitator or relative, as well the correct number of direct line ancestors, to EKA, earliest known Zwiener/Zweiner ancestor. Personal privacy settings of DNA for this project are for Advanced Project participation. No TROLLING - see Code of Conduct page. Dec 2020 We have one BigY 700 YSTR/SNP of the Kansas Zwiener line. It is in the most common modern subpopulation of males from post Ice Age re-settlers of europe in Haploroup R-M269. There also are no matches to any man at all at 12 makers to 111markers to BIgY- Terminal SNP of any Zwiener or ANY OTHER surname. A possible explanation is that the KS Zwiener branch descends from an early prehistorical community of R-M269 in eastern Europe/western Asian block countries who are not actively testing Genealogical DNA. This may not be the case for other Zwiener lines. SNP testing for direct line male Haplogroup will give Zwiener/Zweiner men identification of the major origin Haplogroup like R-M269- some may give a bit more branch resolution. This is done with an "autosomal SNP" test like AncestryDNA, Family Finder, 23andMe, and Living DNA and others. But this is very superfluous and cannot be used for determine relatedness as does Y-STR testing. Ancestry and FF tests do not provide origin mtDNA or Y chromo haplogroup info at all. Only FTDNA has a pubic matching database and the best Y-STR/SNP combination tests to determine male line relatedness.. Male YSNP values form aTDNA test are encouraged to be shared with this Project to help in planning for additional male line Y-STR testing for relatedness. Other Zwiener lines of unconnected Zweiner Ancestors should do a Y37 YSTR test and it is recommend that a Y-111 STR test be done. If there is a YSTR test that is not match with any other Zwiener tests then a second Zwiener direct line male test should be done preferably to another sibling/son of the earliest known EKA Zwiener- a match on distantly related living cousin would prove the line haplotype back to the level of the common ancestor shared by both tested lines.
