This discretionary genetic genealogy research project registry is a digital space wherein lineal ties to the WILLIAMSON group of surnames are explored in the search for a greater knowledge of one's ancestors. 

Genetic genealogical testing (Y-DNA, atDNA, and mtDNA) is utilized for the purposes of comparative matching and analysis as a prospective means of shedding new light on available documentary evidence, potentially yielding new discoveries and/or resolutions to ancestral unknowns.

Operating within the digital spaces of Family Tree DNA, the Williamson DNA Project (Williamson Project) encourages its members to seek official DNA-related technical assistance directly from FTDNA. 

Members are encouraged to pursue collaborative dialogs through readily available platforms such as

patriline-focused social media groups and forums—as well as traditional direct contact with DNA matches 

(for whom email addresses are provided by clicking on a match's name within one's list of DNA matches, subject to individual privacy settings). 

Adherence to these guiding principles fosters a more accurate and reliable research path for project members.
