The Williamson DNA Project (Williamson Project) is a mutual research effort involving families with origins in the WILLIAMSON (and/or surname variant) groups of surnames. Operating within the digital spaces of Family Tree DNA (aka FamilyTreeDNA or FTDNA), this genetic genealogy research project registry is a discretionary resource intended to facilitate a collaborative area wherein member-participants may choose to explore their heritage through the sharing of genealogical information and DNA test results. Genetic genealogical testing (Y-DNA, atDNA, and mtDNA) provides a platform through which comparative matching and analysis can potentially result in ancestral discoveries and/or shed new light on available documentary evidence, augmenting ancestral research.
