About us
In the 1600s, three men immigrated to New Netherlands, whose descendants took the surname Van Hoorn / Van Horne / Van Horn. They were Jan Cornelissen, Christian Barentsen and Matthys Cornelissen. They were not related, and came from different places in Western Europe.
Over the years, mistakes in connection have been made in the conventional pedigree published for the Van Horne surname. It is hoped that the Van Horne yDNA Project will correct those mistakes
Since the 1600s, other families with some variation of the Van Horne surname have immigrated to North America. This project is open to all families with the surname, in the hope of identifying the lines of all Van Horne families
