The Stiff Surname Project is primarily a Y-DNA project but is open to all descendants willing to share research and participate in DNA testing. All spelling variants are welcome. Note that descendants of Alfred A. Nelson will match Stiff men in Y-DNA and are encouraged to join this project. REQUIREMENTS FOR JOINING: Stiff descendants must have Y-DNA and/or Family Finder results at FamilyTreeDNA in order to join the project. * Males with the Stiff surname (or variant) should have Y-DNA test results from FamilyTreeDNA. * Males with other surnames who match Stiff men in Y-DNA at Y-37 or higher are welcome to join the project. * Males and females with Stiff ancestry within 5 generations may join with Family Finder results. * Administrators must be granted Limited (preferred) or Advanced access to your results. * To transfer autosomal DNA results from another company, please see FamilyTreeDNA’s transfer page.
