About us

A count of Mexico DNA Project members with likely full Mexican ancestry and Origins results reveals about 20 percent have between 2 and 24 percent Sephardic/Ashkenazi ancestry.  Furthermore the participants with the highest percentages had surnames associated with the Northeastern Mexico expansion out of Monterrey Mexico.

A person of Sephardic ancestry had 37 percent on his Origins results, therefore it is possible that the full variance of this population has not been quantified. If this is correct the Sephardic Origins results would be understated.  This project may highlight where additional participants need to be quantified, in order to get the full diversity of the Sephardic population and get more accurate Origins results.
