About us

NEWS:

1. We have two European Rubel males and two American Rubel/Ruble males who have recently joined our study ...all have been tested and we are studying the book Der Messerschwanderhof by Hermann Karch, Swiss church records, American historical texts, Mennonite census books, and actively seek other German and Swiss variants of the Ruple name to join our group and thus to assist ALL members of our group, European and American!!  Importantly, we were able to place all of these new members into their respective family subgroups in our study!!

2. Another European connection was established in June of 2011 with the addition of a new pre-Revolutionary line!!  This new member traces his roots to Cumberland County, Pennsylvania, and just before that to Dachsen, Switzerland. John Jacob Rupley served in the American REvolutionary War and his European ancestor was Ulrich Rubli from near Zurich, Switzerland.  Welcome to our group - we look forward to your results!!

3. In November, 2010 your administrator visited the homeland of the Ruple family in Fuellinsdorf - the immigrants were Martin Roppel (immigrant to SC in 1772) and his older brother Hans Jacob Roppel (immigrant top PA in 1767).

4. On the same trip, we were guests of another Ruple yDNA surname group member who kindly set aside his morning plans and gave us a personal walking tour of , , near Aeschelen, legendary home of the Ruble/Rubel family in our yDNA study - they descend from both Ulrich Ruble (Us immigrant in the 1720's?) or Peter Rubel (U.S. immigrant in 1732) ... all pre-Revolutionary War immigrants to .

5.  Our tour guide also joined our group - a Rubeli - his ancestry is from the Tschugg area of canton of Bern, and we heartily thank him for the help he has extended our Ruble/Rubel group in their effort to find their exact home village in the Rhineland or in Switzerland!!  Our thanks to him for bringing together our European families and American families to search for their individual heritage continues.

6.  We have five major haplogroups represented in our Ruple yDNA Surname Group and hope to add more in the future.

7.  The normal test rate is a bargain at $149.00 plus $4 postage – (we paid more than that for a couple of nights stay in Swiss hotels :), but our DNA test was worth it in terms of the knowledge gained of our family’s homeland and relatives!! There are special rates which occasionally apply, so please contact us.

NEW TO OUR GROUP ....WE ARE EXPANDING TO INCLUDE yDNA profiles of 1800s immigrants to the US ...please contact us with your Ruple (or similar spelling) male (our DNA test uses the Y - male chromosome -very relevant to finding relatives of the same or similar surname) ready to test and provide us with your direct Ruple ancestry.  This test tests the father's father's father etc. European males with these spellings are likewise welcome ...we can help one another in finding our relatives.

We are thankful for our group members - God BLESS the RUPLE/RUPEL/ROPPEL/RUBLE/RUBELI/
RUBLEY/RUBLI families who make up our growing Ruple yDNA surname project!!  You ALL are most welcome to our group and if there are ANY suggestions as to how we can more readily grow our group and make it even more successful please do not hestitate to contact the administrator at switzerjr@gmail.com.
