There are now fourteen participants in the PATTY project. This month FTDNA is offering several choices of sale prices for testing. Family Finder is one of those and is a new method of discovering cousins, which will place one in a much better position to round out the family kinship. It is new way to break through those “brick walls.”

A few of the better PATTY surname researchers are not direct male descendants and their research abilities are acknowledged. However, if they are connecting PATTY families solely by others' "paper trail" research, errors can be made. In fact errors have been found before, during, and after our Patty-DNA Project began in 2007 in some previous research. This shows the importance of documenting the findings.

We are presently working on "paper trails" that will document the relationship of the participants in our Patty group. After the verification process is completed, further news will be announced on this as the study grows.

Five participants are now in the Patty project. The latest test results will be posted by mid-December. There are several more Patty and variant lines to identify by DNA. Some of the descendants of the major families whom we would like to join the study are from:  Charles W. Patty 1817 SC-Before 1890 AL; William R. Patey 1817 SC-1892 TN; and Jesse Paty d. War of 1812. If you belong to, or know someone who is descended from, any of these families please contact us to order a test kit and join the group. Participants must be male and will be tested for the Y Chromosome. For details, see the Join selection bar.
