The Murdock (and variations) Family Tree and DNA Linkage Project has been growing in its current form since mid 2008 - our ranks have grown significantlysince that time. We invite and encourage you to participate as well. We can all benefit as more people participate. We're striving to become the pre-eminent site in the world for DNA / Family Tree linkage research concerning surnames found within this large and important surname group. We can make it happen with your participation and interest.
In order to assist those who would like to participate, but for whom cost is a significant deterrent, we have established a General Fund. Donations to this Fund can be accepted in any currency via secure credit card transaction. Monies donated to the fund will be held 'in trust' by the testing company (FamilyTreeDNA), and used to help sponsor test kits for males who would like to participate, but are unable to afford the full cost of participation in the project. We encourage you to make a donation.
To make a donation please click on the last link on the left, entitled "Contribute to the Surname Project General Fund". If you decide to donate, please specify "Murdock Project General Fund" in the top box of the Donation form. Please note that neither the Project coordinator, nor any of the Project's participants, have any financial or operational interest in FamilyTreeDNA as a company - we simply think that they offer the best platform for a study of this kind.
Both Y DNA and mtDNA test result information presented through this Project contain no usefully identifiable personal information, and your privacy will be totally protected. After purchasing and submitting a test kit for coding, depending on participation by others like you, your 'results' may match or be a close match to other people in the project you are related to. The Project coordinator is the only one who will know who you are.
This Project presents an opportunity to learn more about your relationship to others, your origins, and your ancestry.
