About us
In the effort to answer the long-term question of our common origins and migratory paths, our short-term goals include:
1) Encouraging members to upgrade to the full genome sequence mtDNA test (as most already have).
2) Pooling knowledge and conducting additional genealogical research to get as many members maternal lines of origin traced back as far as records and family lore allow.
3) Pooling knowledge and conducting additional historical research to put our various members stories into context.
4) Performing phylogenetic (tree construction) and time-to-common-ancestress analyses to identify the nature and timing of the relationships between our various subclades and individuals within those subclades. THIS IS THE BIGGIE and as of November 2015 I am well on my way to a comprehensive chart I will be sharing with the group in the months to come.
5) Contributing our data when and where appropriate to the cause of scientific genetic research. (always with permission of individual members)
6) Meeting up as schedules and geography allow. Many of us have turned out to be fairly close neighbors!
