We group people by the SNP which describes their known or predicted (by Family Tree DNA) position on the y-haplotree. The Ireland yDNA Project encourages SNP testing to learn more about Irish yDNA and Irish surnames. We actively help and advise people on which SNPs to test for. We also suggest that you also join (i) a suitable surname project and (ii) a suitable y-haplogroup project which focuses on your particular y-haplogroup.
