About us

In the old German records the Haas of Angenrod are found using the honorific "ha Kohen" designation that is reserved for those descended from a Cohane line.  DNA results have placed him in haplogroup J2 and based on his matches,   his deep subclade is J2b2e.  According to the administrator of the the J2b2e project, all but one of his members has a Cohane oral history.  He also matches all 12 markers of the J2b2e Cohane modal.  He also has matches with several people in the Hesse area.   Katzenstein of Rhina is especially interesting as there were Katzenstein marriages with some of those in Angenrod.

Our other Haas whose ancestors are also from Germany,  exhibits the more common R1b1a2 markers prevalent in the  non Jewish Western European population.
