A recent exception to needing a specific Y-DNA test has arisen for Corn*lls who have taken a FamilyFinder test which now shows their ancient-level Y-DNA haplogroup, we do strongly recommend a more specific Y-DNA test, which will eventually place you in a related family group in the project, and whilst not compulsory, will bring benefits to you and the project, with maximum benefit via the BigY test. Anyone who has not taken a Y-DNA test themselves, but has sponsored the appropriate test of another person is of course welcome, but should always make themselves known when communicating with others in the project, making sure you fill out the appropriate contact information boxes in the account settings.
