About us
Our overall objective is to better understand Chadwell genealogy, both for the individual members of the Chadwell Project and for Chadwells in general. A combination of paper trails and DNA results will be used to pursue our goals. We hope to learn more through DNA about how various Chadwell branches connect to each other. We also hope to break through "brick walls" to discover Chadwell ancestors not yet known, including if possible a single shared patriarch for each halplogroup identified.

Our goals can best be achieved if Chadwell males take the y-DNA test. They can then be used as the "anchor" to help us accurately sort out autosomal DNA (atDNA) "Family Finder" matches. To learn about the roots of our Chadwell trees, we need to trace back from each of our branches. If you are a Chadwell male, please consider taking a y-DNA test.
Mitochondrial DNA (mtDNA) results (which trace your mother's mother's mother's etc line) aren't generally as helpful in tracing genealogy because in most cases, a woman's surname is not the same as that of her children or her mother. In addition, mtDNA is so stable (i.e., very slow to mutate), that a "perfect" match can reflect a shared matriarch who is many, many generations back. However, ntDNA results are definitely helpful to confirm a particular matrilineal lineage
All Chadwell males interested in taking a y-DNA test are welcome to contact us regarding additional discounts or coupons.
