About us

I started gathering information for a one-name study on the name Brewerton in 2004.
In 2008 I put this information on to Tribal Pages at www.onenamedstudy.tribalpages.com.
The study then had 800 names. It now has over 2900 Brewerton names which break down into 8 main trees and several other small family groups. I also collect the name Bruerton and have 321 of those names.

Following on from my one-name study, my goal is to see if I can find 2 matches from each of the 8 major trees. I would like to know whether these trees are connected or not. I would then like to have tests from smaller family groups to see if they connect. I would also like to test any Bruertons to see if they connect to the Brewerton name. One tree is connected to the name Brereton. I have men who connect to this name on this project.

What is a Surname Project?

A Surname Project studies the different Y-chromosome DNA (Y-DNA) lineages associated with a surname or group of surnames. It may be narrowly focused on one particularly spelling variant in a specific location. It may also include all known variants of a surname in any time or place. My surname project is interested in all men with the name Brewerton or variants. Because surnames often follow a Y-DNA lineage for many generations it is typical for surname project participants to be men with that surname. Only men can take the Y-DNA test.

I have also established a General Fund, the amount you put in is in dollars, via Pay pal or credit card. These funds will be held at the testing company, and used to help sponsor test kits.  To make a donation please click on the link "Contribute to the Surname Project General Fund". If you decide to donate, please specify "Brewerton Project General Fund" in the top box of the Donation form.

The Y DNA test results contain no personal information, and you will match or be a close match to those to whom you are related. This is an opportunity to learn more about your origins and ancestry.

PLEASE NOTE, WHILE THE AMOUNT OF MONEY IN THE CHART BELOW SHOWS IN UK POUNDS, IT IS IN FACT DOLLARS.

THERE IS A GLITCH IN THE SYSTEM.

Projects are designed to help individuals who may have similar ancestry connect with one another. You should consider participating in a project if:
