About us
This project focuses on Y DNA testing of men whose surname is Bowie. Anyone with the Bowie name among their ancestors can join with automsoal DNA (Family Finder kit) as well, but more support will be provided to further the Y DNA exploration of the Bowie surname and its lineages.
We seek as many Bowie men as possible to:
- Order a Y DNA kit within the project or join your kit to the project
- Order or upgrade to Big Y when possible (FTDNA holds regular sales throughout the year such as the DNA Day sale in April, Father's Day in June, Summer Sale around July-August and Year End sale October-December)
- Add your family tree information in your FTDNA account so it is available to project administrators and matches
- Adjust your FTDNA account settings to most benefit the group goals by:— setting admin permission level to Limited— setting your results to show on the public pseudonymized chart— entering your earliest known ancestor information (name, earliest known date and place, earliest documented country of origin, GPS location … eg: "Philip Bowie, b 1736 Ayrshire"
