About us

From STR testing (Y-DNA 37 and higher), we have determined two major Boggs Y-DNA families. One is the line from James L Boggs B 1752 of NC, VA, and KY. This line is distinct from the other major Boggs line and is genetically linked to the Bogue line from NC and a Boag line from Scotland.

From SNP testing (Big-Y, SNP Pack S3058, and specific SNP tests), we have learned how many Boggs Lines connect and how they are connected to some interesting related lines.

Below is a genealogy frequently used in many genealogies. This particular genealogy was posted on the internet by Ruth Hall. She used information posted in the Boggs Newsletter provided by Edward Woodyard, Eugene Boggs, and Mrs Slack. https://homepages.rootsweb.com/~ruthhall/Boggs/JamesBoggs.htm#1

Only Robert is documented as a son. Using the YDNA results of that line, it can be proven that Francis, Ezekiel and William could not be sons. It is uncertain about James, Jr and Alexander. No other lines have been found that are candidates for sos of James. Some later genealogies added John Livingston as a father for James. Extensive testing of many Livingston lines, have not found any Livingston closely related to the Boggs Haplogroups of R-Z29953 and its haplogroups below including R-BY3361 of the James Boggs line.
