Project Goals ...

The goals of the Alabama Fever DNA Project is to help our members solve family lines of their ancestors who participated in the great Alabama Fever land rush during the early 1800's.  With so many people being on the move during this time period, many of these families have brick walls with ancestors that are very difficult to trace with the traditional paper trail.  The goal of our project is to combine the traditional paper trail with DNA to help break through those brick walls.  Not only do we use Y-DNA & mtDNA test results to help us achieve these goals, but we also include triangulated Autosomal DNA (Family Finder) results which has been proven to be a very useful tool in helping to solve many family lines.  Our hope is to also be able to isolate and identify specific Autosomal DNA chromosome segments that our members inherited from their Alabama Fever land rush ancestors.  If you have taken the Y-DNA, mtDNA, or Autosomal DNA (atDNA - Family Finder or other 3rd party) tests and descend from an ancestor who settled in or passed through North or Central Alabama in the early 1800's, or if your DNA is a match to someone who did, then we invite you to join our project.

Please be sure that you are logged into your FTDNA account when clicking on the "Join" link on our site and sending your join request.  If you've taken your DNA test through a 3rd party and do not yet have a FTDNA account, but would still like to participate in the project, please email our project administrator with your request at alabamafeverdna@gmail.com.
