Q:  I've taken a DNA test with familytreedna.com (aka FTDNA).  How do I join the project?
A:
Log into your FTDNA account and then visit our project's website.  Click on the "Join" button located in the right corner of the Website's top banner image to join the project.  After joining the project, click on the orange link titled "Manage Personal Information" located in the left hand column directly underneath your name and address.  When your Account Information page loads, click on the "Project Preferences" tab.  Look for the Alabama Fever DNA Project in the Group Project list and click on the orange "Edit" button beside the project's name.  Then select "Grant Limited Access" beside each Project Administrator's name and click on the green "Accept" button.

Q:  I've taken the autosomal DNA test with Ancestry.com, can I join the project?
A:
Yes.  To join the project you'll need to go to your AncestryDNA page and click on the "Settings" button in the top right hand corner of the page.  This will take you to your "Test Settings" page.  Once the page loads, look in the right hand column for a gray button that says "Download Raw DNA Data."  Click on that button and follow the online instructions to download your zipped Raw DNA Data File from AncestryDNA.  Once the file is downloaded, do not unzip it.  Next, visit FTDNA's Autosomal DNA Transfer page at the following link: https://www.familytreedna.com/autosomal-transfer
and follow the online instructions to transfer/upload your AncestryDNA Raw Data File to FTDNA.  Once your file has been uploaded and your FTDNA account has been set up, you'll then need to log into your FTDNA account and visit our project's website and click on the "Join" button located in the right corner of the Website's top banner image to join the project.
