About us

FTDNA African American Griot Legacy Project (AAGLP), formerly SlavesSlaveholders DNA Project is for FTDNA members who can identify their ancestry specifically to the Trans Atlantic Slave Trade. This project exists to facilitate the finding of connections to the Trans Atlantic Slave Trade and the African diaspora. The project is also for  descendants of Enslaved Persons (EPs) and related Slave Holder (SHs)/Enslavers, Free Persons of Color (FPOC). The descendant line may be a result of an Enslaved Person (EP)/Enslaved Person (EP) relationship or an Enslaved Person (EP)/Slave Holder(SH)/Enslaver relationship or Enslaved Person (EP)/Free Persons of Color (FPOC) relationship or Free Persons of Color (FPOC)/Free Persons of Color (FPOC) relationship or Free Persons of Color (FPOC)/Slaveholder (SH)/Enslavers relationship. By participating in this project with your DNA, new relationships may be created, brick walls broken down, enrich sacred ancestry stories may be found, expanded or created
