The Windhams From England Family Tree DNA group is devoted to helping male Windham and Wyndhams determine if their Y-DNA matches Y-DNA markers of males with proven descents from Felbrigg, Norfolk, England. Descendants of the Felbrigg, England line of Windham/Wyndhams are found in the United States, Canada, and Australia. The majority of the descendants found in Canada and Australia are from Sir Thomas Wyndham and his first wife Eleanor Scrope. Through the use of matching Y-DNA markers, a line of male Windhams found as early as 1736 in South Carolina is believed to have descended from Sir Thomas Windham and his second wife Elizabeth Wentworth. Male Wyndhams/Windhams who match the appropriate number of Y-DNA markers to the Y-DNA markers of males with proven lines of descent from England, will be able to cross the Atlantic to England and to a common male ancestor in England
