About us
In the United States, our research focuses on identifying immigrant ancestors, especially those earliest ancestors who arrived during the 1600s and 1700s. We are looking for descendants of these early Normans, all of whom are urged to join us in this study.
Outside the United States, we seek to identify lineages allied with the U.S. branches in order to find the geographic origins of the various lines. Since Norman is a Western European surname, we encourage contemporary Western European Normans to join, especially those from the U.K. and northern France. Currently, the project is only sparsely represented by non-Americans, and the project would benefit greatly by participation of Normans from around the globe. In addition to America, Normans must have settled (perhaps more recently) in other countries outside Western Europe. Descendants of these non-U.S., non-Western European Normans are especially encouraged to join.
