About us
We have discovered through testing that the Worrall's of Lancashire can be split into at least 2 distinctive branches. One branch belongs to R1b (P312+, DF19+) and one branch belongs to R1a (Z284+, YP556+).
R1a is considered in England to be the strongest sign of paternal Viking ancestry. This makes sense given that the Wirral peninsula whence comes the majority of Worrall people was a hotspot of Viking settlement. DF19 is a rare subclade (i.e. a grouping) of R1b that is frequently associated with Norman ancestry.
More testing will be needed to figure out which branch is more prominent amongst Worrall men.
