About us

HAPLOGROUP:
The Walter Woodworth Haplogroup has been predicted to be R1b1; subclade testing done on one of our project members has confirmed this line as R1b1c. Additional testing done on the "S" series markers shows the line being S21 positive, subsequently all Walter Woodworth descendants are R1b1c9*. The shorthand version is R-M269. This subclade originated in northwestern Europe. The R1b subclade originated in Western Europe and is one of the most common haplogroups in Europe. R1b is considered a marker of Palaeolithic European hunter-gatherer ancestry and spread throughout Europe after the last ice age.
HAPLOTYPE:
Of the 13 participants tested in 2006, 4 are from unknown genetic lines; 9 are closely related and include 3 men who match the Walter Woodworth modal haplotype, and 6 who are 1 step mutations from the Walter Woodworth modal haplotype.
