The purpose of this project is to use DNA evidence to help identify the various Wisley-Wisely-Wiseley lines of descent. Through Y-DNA testing, we hope to eventually "cross the pond" and connect with distant Wiseley cousins in other countries to learn more about the origins of the surname.

Project goals:

• Assist members with understanding their DNA results
• Group and analyze Y-SNP and Y-STR results
• Investigate surname origins and migration paths
• Identify common ancestors and paternal lineages

If you are a Wisley-Wisely-Wiseley male, please order a Y-DNA test (37 markers, 111 markers, or the Big Y).  Females and related males who don't carry the Wisely surname should order the Family Finder test. Females should ask a male Wisley relative to take a Y-DNA test. Please contact administrator Lucy Nelson if you need help with ordering.
