The goals of the Whateley DNA project are to help

• Discover which of our family trees are related and if they can be linked to a common ancestor 
• Find information to help with and validate all our family history research
• Discover information which may solve research problems, and/or resolve brick walls
• Potentially bridge gaps in the paper records
• Preserve DNA results for future research, to protect against any male line becoming extinct
