About us

The TROTT One-Name Research Group (TONRG) is an international genealogy group dedicated to researching the TROTT Family Name (and variants TRATT, TRETT, TREAT and TROOD) in England, Australia, New Zealand, USA, Canada, Germany and other countries. We encourage participation in the TROTT-DNA Surname Project as we seek to trace our roots. The individual being tested should be a male surnamed TROTT (or one of its variants) with no female interruption in his lineage from his earliest TROTT ancestor. The project also accepts members in the following categories: any researcher with a different surname, whose earliest ancestor is a Trott or variant, or any researcher with one of the surnames listed above, whose earliest ancestor has a different surname, for example through adoption or an out of wedlock birth. Female researchers may also join by recruiting a closely related Trott or variant surname male (for example, father, brother or male cousin) as only males carry Y-DNA. Please contact one of the Project Administrators for more information. Billy Trott is based in the US and is assisted by June Willing who is based in the UK. Photo: Scarborough, Yorkshire
