About us
This is a typical Y-DNA surname project. It seeks to discover the origins of the globally disparate Trew/True families by identifying the biological links between them and other similarly named people. It does this by looking at the Y-DNA of males with a relevant surname. This technique can reach back through time and absolutely prove links between families that diverged hundreds of years ago.
The Trews are found in England and Ireland and in emigrant populations especially in the US, Canada, Australia and New Zealand. This project will help rediscover the links between them.
Very interested in the Trews/Frews from the province of Ulster in Ireland - especially Co. Armagh - and those that emigrated to the US and Canada since before the Irish famine and up to the 20th century.
PLEASE NOTE :- This is a Y-DNA based project. You need to have a Y-DNA test from a male with a relevant surname to participate effectively although you can otherwise communicate via the discussion window. To prevent people joining without understanding this requirement, I've enabled join requests.
