The Treadway/Treadaway/Tredway/Tredaway Y-DNA site will focus on the Male Y Chromosome. Below is some information for you on the different tests and what they mean.

Y-DNA

     Why test Y-DNA? The Y chromosome is passed down almost unchanged on the paternal side from father to son. Male ancestors carried their Y-DNA along their migrations. Special sections on the Y chromosome a males Y haplogroup revealing the origins of his ancestors. Basically a haplogroup is your ancestral grouping or clan. All variations of the surname "Thretheway" will not be excluded from this DNA Project as it is intended to be worldwide.

mt-DNA

     Mitochondrial DNA or mt-DNA tests the direct lines of your maternal side. In other words the mt-DNA is passed from your mother, and her mother, and her mother, etc.

Autosomal DNA

     The Autosomal DNA, aka Family Finder tests both your paternal and maternal lines (up to 5 generations back) and both males and females can take this test. However, this test cannot distinguish matches from your mothers or fathers side.

     This site was made in February 2018, and is a non-profit Y-DNA project for our surname.

     Note: It is best for those males that want to order a Y-DNA test, to order the 67 marker Y-DNA test. With the 67 maker Y-DNA test you will obtain the highest resolution in the world.
