About us
The Stiles Family of America and Affiliated Families, Inc. (SFA) established a DNA project at its July 2007 annual meeting. Limited volunteers necessitated limiting the project to Y-DNA research until 2021, when new volunteers allowed the project to expand to include autosomal DNA testers. More information is available at https://stilesfamilyofamerica.net/stiles-surname-project/.
Volunteer researchers study Stiles family groups using both paper records and DNA matches. Participants currently come from the United States, Canada, Australia, and England.
SFA has a database of more than 370,000 names, plus many paper records. Many Stiles ancestors had common names, such as William, John, Robert, Samuel, and James. To help volunteers find the right records, autosomal DNA participants should share a family line of at least four generations, if possible. If you do not know your lineage yet, SFA volunteers may be able to help.
