About us

Traditional genealogy was the only available method for lineage exploration until DTC DNA became available. With DNA, those whose genealogy reached back to a "dead end" can find a path to explore based on (we hope) matching males whose lineages are known.

Administered by Clinton Slayton and Wesley Miller, this website is a work-in-progress, part of a project recovering from the shutdown of MyFamilyDNA.com and yDNA Projects at Ancestry.com. We use yDNA to determine that various patrilineal ancestors reflected in differing yDNA account for men who have identical or similar surnames, and use autosomal DNA to look for relatives of any gender.

All direct male descendants of a suspected Slaton or Slatten heritage, regardless of adoption of other surnames, are welcome to JOIN their results here. Since this site does not display full names, the data you enter for the oldest suspected
(Most Distant) ancestor is quite important and required for membership unless this breaches the privacy of a living person. Females who sponsor males of interest, or who have done Family Finder and suspect a connection, are encouraged to request to join, although only male results will display on the public grid.

If this is unclear to you, contact me at cslayton19@windstream.net or Wesley Miller at wamiller1313@gmail.com before asking for an invitation to JOIN.

Members might be asked to allow results to be posted on other selected websites, such as Haplogroup Projects. We ask contributors or sponsors: please maintain current e-mail addresses or contact information. Please look at the existing grid for hints as to how to name your Most Distant ancestor, these should be consistent. Members might be asked to alter these for a consistent presentation.
