About us
Y-DNA Test results have identified four SPIEGELBERG family lines and two LUEDTKE family lines.
Big Y-700 DNA testing has shown the following:
1. One of the SPIEGELBERG lines (male descendants of Johann D. F. SPIEGELBERG) shares a common male ancestor with three LUEDTKE males from two separate lines. Testing showed that the four SPIEGELBERG males descended from four sons of Johann, were related through a common male ancestor born around 1802 AD+/-. This agrees quite well with Johann's actual birth year of 1811 AD.
2. The Johann SPIEGELBERG male line is related to one of the LUEDTKE male lines through a common male ancestor born around 1475 AD+/-. The remaining LUEDTKE line is related to the SPIEGELBERGs and LUEDTKEs through a common male ancestor born around 1314 AD.
Based on the distant relationship of the SPIEGELBERGs and the LUEDTKEs it is unlikely that we will ever be able to tie the lines together PATERNALLY, however it is interesting that we are that closely related through our male lines.
As additional SPIEGELBERG and LUEDTKE males are tested, we may be able to more accurately predict a date for our common ancestor(s). Or, we may be able to establish other relationships within each line.
