The objective of this project is to determine the earliest possible known Sorrells/Sorrell ancestor with our Y-DNA profile. All American and European Sorrells/Sorrell males are encouraged to participate in order to compile DNA data and determine which families are related. Using proven genealogies many families hopefully can be proven to be related. All phonetic spellings of Sorrells are of interest: e.g. Surles, Sirrells, Sarrells, Surrells, Searles.

Now with the Family Finder and mtDNA tests, we can also determine our relationship as females.  Please be encouraged to order any type of test available through Family Tree DNA through this project!
