The objective of this project is to determine the earliest possible known Sorrells/Sorrell ancestor with our Y-DNA profile. All American and European Sorrells/Sorrell males are encouraged to participate in order to compile DNA data and determine which families are related. We also encourage male and female members to join using the Family Finder and MtDNA tests. Using proven genealogies many families hopefully can be proven to be related. All phonetic spellings of Sorrells are of interest: e.g. Surles, Sirrells, Sarrells, Sorrelle, Surrells, Searles, and Sarrels.
