The project aims to bring together in cyberspace all those with the surname Sonksen and to map the genes using modern technology to discover more about the 'Sonksen Tribe' and any ‘Clans’ within the ‘Tribe’. Are we all from the same family? Where did the original 'Sonk' who's sons we are, come from? Was there more than one 'Sonk'?
If you or a close male relative have the surname Sonksen (or one of the variants), we invite you to join our project. Getting your Y-DNA analysed requires a simple swab from the inside of the cheek. The sample can be mailed to the lab from anywhere in the world. The cost at US$159 is reasonable - only a 12 site analysis is needed initially; it can always be upgraded to 25 or 37 markers at a later date without the need for a further sample.
