The aim of the Sones Project isto use DNA testing to help individuals who bear the name Sones, Soans, Soanes or one of its variants, identify their genetic cousins and determine which particular Sones family, or branch of the family, they belong to.  It will also help build a picture of how many genetically distinct branches of the Sones family exist today and help determine the ancient origins of each branch identified.  

This is a new project (September2013) but I hope, in time, to add paper trail details of different branches of the family which can be used in conjunction with the DNA results to help people with the name of Sones to identify which family group or branch they belong to.
