The Skehan surname project was created to identify possible links between the various Skehan family lines in Co. Kilkenny, Ireland and surrounding counties through Y-DNA testing. We welcome any descendants with the Skehan surname or one of its many variants, or other people who have identified a Skehan as their earliest known paternal ancestor. We would ask members to test to at least the Y-DNA37 level if possible at FamilyTreeDNA though higher testing levels are certainly encouraged. Since Y-DNA is exclusive to males, potential female members should seek out a male family member of the same line for testing purposes.
