The goal of the Shiflett Surname Project is to distinguish between Shiflett & other similar ancestral lines, worldwide. Any reasonable spelling variant is included (please feel free to suggest a variant you feel I have missed).

Please note that, at the outset, it makes sense to "cast the net widely." As the number of individuals tested increases and various lines become well defined, I will be more than happy to turn over these lines to other researchers specializing in them. I don't recommend splitting-up the project at the outset because I have a feeling we are in for some surprises with regard to where the divisions belong.

Also please note that, to participate meaningfully, you will need to share your male direct-line ancestry. This does not mean that anyone is obligated to, the choice is yours. For those looking for new relatives it is best to list your lineage so that others can contact you.
