The purpose of this DNA study is to determine whether those unlinked lines are genetically linked to the lines proven to be descended from Jan Roelofse Sebring.
The Sebrings arrived in New Netherlands at a time when spelling had not been standardized, and many variations of the names appear in older documents, including Sebring, Seabring, Cebring, Seaborn, Sebering, Sebrant, Sebrige, Sebrink, Sebryng, Seubering, Seuberingh, Soubanich, Subring, Suebering, and Sybrink. This project is also interested in exploring any ties between the Sebring family and individuals with variants of the name.
The project is open to any male with the surname Sebring or a variation thereof. Please join!
