12-10-2016: Roanoke-Chowan DNA project began with David Powell as administrator.
1-18-2017: From the counties of the Roanoke-Chowan (or those adjacent), 8 Y-DNA and 6 mitochondrial haplotypes have been found. Membership has grown to 50 members, and there have been two additions to the administration team; namely, Justin Petrone and Sherry Sanders.
3-25-2017: from the counties of the Roanoke-Chowan (or those adjacent), 16 Y-DNA and 11 mitochondrial haplotypes have been found. Of the Y-DNA haplotypes, 2 sets have been triangulated; one in the Carter family & one in the Early family. Membership has grown to 75 members.
4-25-2017: from the counties of the Roanoke-Chowan (or those adjacent), 20 Y-DNA and 13 mitochondrial haplotypes have been found. Of the Y-DNA haplotypes, there are 3 sets that match; in the Carter, Early and Eure families. There are 2 sets of triangulated matches in the mitochondrial haplotypes. Membership has grown to 88 members.
