About us
INTRODUCTION
As with all research, there will be a significant amount of data and source documents that will provide the background for discovering the details of each family line. "Background" is the project tab where that source information will be documented. The primary data source for this project is contained in the testing of project members Y-Chromosome DNA by direct line male descendants of each of the identified family lines. The Y-DNA Colorized chart associated with this project reflects the grouping of identified family groups as determined by the genetic distance (number of variations of identified DNA markers) of primary family lines and geographic areas. The order and headings in the grouping of the Colorized Chart will be used to organize data in Background and Results.
Our hope and intent is that this growing source of information will aid each project member in adding to our collective knowledge for collaboration and validation of our family lines.
As either beginning family history buffs or avid genealogists, we all soon learn the importance of proper source citation. For those that would like to gain more insight into this process, the following links are helpful in your systematic recording of these sources. In the tab "Results", under the "RAMER Family DNA Project Results – Significant Generalized Findings" is the following statement:
Our findings strongly suggest, but do not prove to a Genealogical Proof Standard, that he (Adam) is the father of John Wesley RAMER of Branch 8 (above) as well as John Wesley’s brother, Andrew Boyd RAMER. The findings that provide the basis for this conclusion are presented in a document titled, "Adam RAIMER - Findings" which can be found in our Background section. Here is that information.

Four miles above Bowling-Green, on the river, is McFadin's old station. Some anecdotes are connected with it, one of which we relate: A dashing young Virginian came to the station, and began his brag that he could outrun any man "in all Kaintuck." McFadin, who was a quizzical old genius, inquired whether he would run barefooted or shod, and was promptly answered " barefoot." Let me fix time and place, said McFadin, and I will risk a gallon of whisky I find a man to beat you. The bet was made and the day fixed. The old hunter Raymer was sent for. The parties repaired to the track selected by McFadin. It was probably the most flinty bed in all the country. At the word the racers started. They had gone but a few yards when the Virginian was compelled to hold up. But as Raymer's feet were hard as a buffalo's, he kept ahead like a quarter horse, to the great amusement of old McFadin and his friends. That ground has since been called ''Raymer''s Race Track.''
