About us
If you have a Y-DNA test result at 23andMe of R-Z18023 or R-Z18021, please order a Y-DNA test or a Family Finder test from Family Tree DNA and join the R1b-BY168 and Subclades Project. R-Z18023 is another name for R-BY168. R-Z18021 is another name for R-BY166 (one step downstream of R-BY168). Please join our project and help us find out more about our shared Y-DNA ancestry. We might even be able to assist you in obtaining Family Tree DNA's top-of-the-line Big Y-700 test. When you join, please let us know about your prior R-Z18023 or R-Z18021 results.
The R1b-BY168 Project is designed to collect data on and conduct research into the origins of the SNP BY168, recently discovered downstream of FGC5572 like so: P-P226>R-M207>R1-M173>R1b-M343>L754>L761>L389>
P297>M269>L23>L51>P310>PF6538>L151>P312>Z290>L21>S552>DF13>Z39589>DF41>FGC5572>BY168.
Within the R1b-BY168 subclade is found the Short Tandem Repeat haplotype cluster 41-1123, which is characterized by the following marker values: 390=23; 385=11-11; 447<=24; 464b=16; 534<=14; 413a<=22. The following values are also usually found in the cluster but not always: 458=16 and 439<=11. Its members are derived (positive) for the SNP BY166 (also known as Z18021) downstream of BY168.
This is a Y-DNA project. Only men have a Y chromosome, which is passed from father to son. Women may participate by having a male BY168+ relative join. Please click on the tabs above to view the various aspects of our project.
