This SNP defines the Irish Type III haplogroup but the project is open to all men who show the distinctive STR markers of this cluster. You are likely to be Irish Type III and L226+ if you have all or most of the following STR marker values:- DYS439=11 DYS459=8,9 DYS464=13,13,15,17 DYS456=15 DYS557=15 DYS716=24 DYS533=13 DYS636=12 DYS463=25 The Banner above shows Dromoland Castle, built in the early 19th century for the O'Brien family on the site of the ancestral home of the O'Brien first mentioned in the will of Murrough O'Brien, Earl of Thomond in 1551, the O'Briens being the principal Dalcassian Family that is represented by this haplogroup.
