This SNP defines the Irish Type III haplogroup and the project is open to all men who test derived (positive) for the L226 SNP.

You are likely to be Irish Type III and L226+ if you have the following STR marker values:-

The Banner above shows Dromoland Castle, the ancestral home of the O'Brien first mentioned in the will of Murrough O'Brien, Earl of Thomond in 1551, the O'Briens being the principal Dalcassian Family that is represented by this haplogroup.

The Shield is that of the O'Brien Clan.
