The goal of this project is to begin to delineate various Qualls/Quarles family lines.  In 1840 census the Qualls surname appeared primarily in Tennessee, and to a lesser extent North Carolina and Georgia. By the 1880 census Tennessee was still the dominant state for the Qualls surname, but Arkansas, Texas, Kentucky, Virginia, Illinois, and Alabama had substantial number of Qualls. By 1920 the Qualls are dominantly in Tennessee, Arkansas, and Kentucky. With enough participation in the project, it is hoped that some of the lines of migration will be able to be established.
